The film is  based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, who was the military leader of King Shivaji, founder of the Maratha Empire  in the 17th century.Tanhaji was also one of Chhatrapati Shivaji's close aides and trusted lieutenants.When the fort of Kondana, which was the pride of the Marathas, was under the control of Udayabhan and a Mughal army.The Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj orders his General Tanaji to capture fort of  Kondhana to protect Southern India from Mughal .

Saif Ali Khan as Udaybhan in Negative Role . Saif in some moments of his evil madness. This is Saif's most outsantding performances.
